It was a nice day for a walk, I decided, and lifted myself from my seat.
The sun was large in the sky, but the ocean breeze helped to stave off the heat.
I heard on the news that you’d be able to see Mars tonight with a telescope,
So I shielded my eyes and looked up in minor hope.
Nothing but clouds, not a planet in the sky, but suddenly a cardinal flew by.
I swung my head in its direction, but it was gone. I released a sigh.
Cherries, strawberries, and apples caught my eye and made me stop.
Round and juicy, firm and shiny, the apples reminded me of something.
I walked over slowly and lifted one off the top.
